Explorer Lead Instructor

Job Summary

Lead Instructors will lead vocational training workshops using the custom/adapted Beacons curriculum for individuals with mild/moderate disabilities. Instructors help develop and update curriculum, devise learning tools to support activities, and work with associate instructors to optimize the learning experiences and growth of trainees in the workshops.

Position Requirements

• Teaching experience 
• Demonstrated success working with individuals with mild/moderate disabilities 
• Knowledge and experience providing instructional scaffolding and differentiated learning whereby t he instructor systematically builds on trainees’ experiences and knowledge as they are learning new skills. 
• Experience providing ongoing progress reporting and data collection to record trainee’s progress and provide feedback to client, family, and program administrators
• Experience working with assistive technology to support those with different learning and communication styles
• Well-organized and good time management skills
• Innovative “outside the box” thinking to help create tools or materials to help trainees learn and retain subject matter taught
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record. This role requires daily driving of participants to and from community-based activities and local employer sites.
• Proficient with education-related programs and tools (such as Google Suites, Canva, and Zoom)
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work with our trainees, families, community members, and agency representatives.
• Teaching credential and degree preferred but not required
• Successful completion of a LiveScan and background check
