Job Description

The Role

At Autograph Homes, we’re building more than houses—we’re building a better experience for homeowners and the people who help make it all happen. As we expand our footprint in the Houston market, we’re looking for an Estimator who brings both technical expertise and a collaborative spirit to our growing team.

In this role, you’ll work closely with internal leaders and trade partners to shape how we deliver on our promise: thoughtful design, quality construction, and homes that truly feel made for the people who live in them. You’ll play a key role in helping Autograph Homes become the builder of choice for Houstonians seeking a different—and better—experience.

What You’ll Do

· Estimate material and labor costs and prepare detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for all floor plans and options.

· Maintain and update database of material takeoffs, base contracts, labor rates, and item costs.

· Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction to gather project information, clarify scope, and identify opportunities.

· Communicate with management on estimates, monitor project costs, and provide insights to prevent budget overruns.

· Prepare and present comprehensive monthly cost reports providing detailed budgets per project.

· Review construction drawings, specification sheets, and related project documentation to ensure accuracy.

· Create, price and maintain all structural and design options.

· Develop a comprehensive understanding of each project by thorough review and analysis of plans, guidelines, and design intent.

· Conduct site visits to review takeoffs and material usage.

· Collaborate with the construction team to establish construction sequencing and methodology, ensuring efficiency and alignment with project goals.

· Assist with managing vendor database.

· Review and analyze bids to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.

· Conduct onsite value engineering reviews with required stakeholders.

· Support the team as needed – flexibility is key in a startup-style environment

What You Bring:

  • 2+ years of residential construction estimating experience.
  • Completion of a 4-year degree is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and codes.
  • Strong ability to analyze data, perform calculations, and make accurate cost estimates.
  • Proficient in using residential construction estimating software, such as Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar platforms, for takeoffs and cost calculations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and Hyphen Solutions, including Brix and Build Pro.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, timelines and budgets.

We put our name on it. And we hope you will too.
