Job Description

We’re partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization based in Southwest Portland that’s looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to support their evolving workforce and help foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture. This hybrid position (3 days on site, 2 remote) offers a competitive salary of $85,000–$95,000, along with 2 weeks of PTO, 14 paid holidays, and a strong 401(k) match. As the Employee Relations Specialist, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, handling complex employee relations matters with professionalism, empathy, and a solution-oriented approach. Your work will help shape how the organization navigates employee concerns, builds manager capability, and strengthens the overall employee experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex employee relations cases, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance issues
  • Provide coaching and support to managers on employee relations strategies, policy interpretation, and compliance
  • Partner with HR leadership to assess risk and recommend solutions aligned with organizational values and employment law
  • Develop and enhance employee relations programs, tools, and training initiatives
  • Ensure documentation and processes meet legal, ethical, and organizational standards

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in employee relations or HR roles with a strong ER focus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion and sound judgment
  • Familiarity with Oregon employment laws and nonprofit or mission-driven environments
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
